The optional subjects are divided into two parts that are subject-specific and literature. The subject-specific optional subjects are Agriculture, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science & International Relations, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Commerce & Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, and Zoology. The literature subjects for optional are Gujarati, Hindi, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Santhali, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and English.
Key Details about IAS Exam 2022
The Union Public Service Commission is conducting the IAS Exam for the recruitment of civil servants. The process is underway as the Mains examination is ongoing. After the completion of the main examination, shortlisted candidates will be called for appearing in the interview. The main examination is conducted for nine papers wherein in first two papers are Indian Language and English which are qualifying in nature. The other papers are conducted for the geography, history, Indian heritage culture, and society in GS Paper 1; Polity, Governance, Constitution, Social Justice, and International Relations in GS Paper 2; Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment Security and Disaster Management in GS Paper 3; Ethics in GS Paper 4.
The notification along with the application form was released on 02 February 2022. The last date to submit the application form was 22 February 2022. The eligible candidates got the chance to appear in the prelims examination on 05 June 2022. The prelims examination is conducted for two papers namely GS Paper 1 and CSAT. It is conducted for a total of 400 marks wherein CSAT is qualifying in nature means candidates have to score 33% marks to pass this paper. The marks obtained in CSAT are not considered for preparing the merit list. The selection in the prelims examination is mainly dependent on the performance of the candidates in GS Paper I.
